Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 13, when Friends of Mt. Tabor Park will host the first annual Tabor Day, a new community celebration in the park's amphitheater from 12–4 pm.
This family-friendly event will bring together the people who make Mt. Tabor what it is, including our members and soon-to-be-members, our volunteers, and our neighbors. Expect refreshments, tables from neighborhood partners, a talk on the park's history, and more for what we hope marks the launch of a new tradition.
Tabor Day is free and open to everyone, members and non-members alike, so bring friends, family, your neighbors, pets (on leash of course), and anyone else who loves this park as much as we do.
Accessibility
Friends of Mt. Tabor Park is eager to make this event accessible to people with disabilities. That said, we acknowledge that accessibility is a work in progress, and therefore welcome both feedback and patience from the community. Below please find some basic information.
The amphitheater is reached via a paved path from the main parking area, though the route includes some slope. Limited parking is available nearby, including three designated ADA parking spots. (We’re encouraging attendees to carpool, walk, bike when possible to leave parking spaces open for those that need them.)
The nearest ADA-accessible restroom is approximately a half block from the amphitheater.
We’ve encouraged anyone hosting walks and other events to provide information about distance, type of terrain (hilly, paved, steep), and to provide hand-outs with fonts no smaller than 14pts. If you’re excited by a particular event, please contact us at the address below with any questions or suggestions so we can learn from each other.
If you require ASL interpreting for the public speaking parts of the event, please make a request to the email below by Monday, September 7.
If you have ideas about how we can help make your Tabor Day more accessible (short of flattening an old volcano), please email geoffreyrwood@icloud.com. REGISTER HERE (this will take you to an Eventbrite page)
