Crew Leader Training RSVP

Become a Mt Tabor Park Crew Leader!

Do you enjoy getting outdoors and being part of a community who's making a difference for Portland's urban forests? Enjoy spending time in Mt. Tabor Park and learning about the plants and animals that call it home? Do you like having fun and meeting your neighbors? Consider becoming a Friends of Mt Tabor Park crew leader!

Crew leaders help guide groups of volunteers during monthly stewardship events, which happen 9am-12pm on the last Saturday of every month (except December). No experience is necessary to become a crew leader--just a willingness to work with volunteers of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds to help remove invasive plant species from the park and plant native ones.

If you are interested in becoming a crew leader, the training for 2026 happens over two (mandatory) days, and we'd love to see you! The training dates are:

  • Wednesday January 28th, from 6-7:30pm at Rice School, an evening intro session

  • Saturday, Jan 31st, 8:30am-12:30pm at Mt Tabor Park, a hands-on training session during January's last Saturday stewardship event

We hope that if you become a crew leader, you'll commit to attend at least two stewardship events during 2026.

If you have any questions or would like to RSVP to attend the 2026 crew leader training, please reach out to Stewardship Coordinator Stasia Honnold, fmtp.weedwarriors@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
